What is FPIES and how do you manage it?

November 27, 12-1pm EDT

A type of non-IgE-mediated food allergy, Food Protein-Induced Enterocolitis Syndrome (FPIES) typically affects young children and causes severe vomiting, paler than normal skin colour, tiredness, and diarrhea. Such symptoms can be confused with those of other illnesses, like a bad stomach flu, making the condition harder to recognize.

In this webinar you’ll learn the basics of FPIES, including diagnosis, common food triggers, symptoms, dietary management and treatment.

Immunotherapy and desensitization: Understanding the dose I react to and how does immunotherapy change that?

December 12, 12-1pm EDT

Get an understanding of the various forms of food allergen immunotherapy, including orally, placement under the tongue, and a patch applied to the skin. What does immunotherapy accomplish, who is the right patient for it, and where is it headed for the future?

You’ll also learn about the basics of thresholds, their application in therapies and in clinical practice, and what it might mean for managing your food allergy.

Sulphite sensitivity: What foods do you commonly avoid?

Sulphites are substances that naturally occur in some foods and the human body. They are also regulated food additives that are used as preservatives to maintain food colour and prolong shelf-life.

Health Canada includes sulphites as a priority allergen. Sulphites do not cause true allergic reactions but are generally grouped with the priority food allergens because sulphite-sensitive individuals may react to sulphites with allergy-like symptoms.

If you have sulphite sensitivity, fill out our 1-minute survey to tell us which foods you commonly avoid. Survey closes on November 10th, 2023.

Your input will help us understand how to support you better.
